Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. 41. Commentary on the Gospel Imposing HAND ON EACH person In dealing with sick people, Jesus behaved like a gentle doctor. Faced with the mother of Simon Peter, victimized by a very high fever, she leaned over and gave the order that the fever disappeared. Showed similar kindness when they brought people suffering from various diseases. With great gentleness and patience, approaching each one, imposed his hand on the head and healed. The imposition of hands revealed not only the care of Jesus for the sick, but also their solidarity with them. The communion with the Son of God unmask submission demonic forces that kept the slaves. While the supportive presence of Jesus was a carrier of life and health, the presence of evil forces caused suffering and death. Hence the need to liberate people from this humiliating situation. Culture of the time, the disease revealed the demons power over the human being. Anyway, they were considered as a consequence of sin. The physical and spiritual healing was becoming therefore an obvious manifestation of the Kingdom of God had arrived by the presence and ministry of Jesus, breaking into human history. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [even] as unto babes in Christ. 2. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet now are ye able. 3. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4. For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I [am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5. Who then is Paul, and who [is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9. For we are labourers together with God: ye are Gods husbandry, [ye are] Gods building. Psalms 33 1. Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: [for] praise is comely for the upright. 2. Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings. 3. Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. 4. For the word of the LORD [is] right; and all his works [are done] in truth. 5. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. 6. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9. For he spake, and it was [done]; he commanded, and it stood fast. 10. The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. 11. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12. Blessed [is] the nation whose God [is] the LORD; [and] the people [whom] he hath chosen for his own inheritance. 13. The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. 14. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. 15. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. 16. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. 17. An horse [is] a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver [any] by his great strength. 18. Behold, the eye of the LORD [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19. To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 20. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he [is] our help and our shield. 21. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
