03.16.14_Daily Devotion “Searching for the Pearl in Proverbs!” DAY SIXTEEN “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” PROVERBS 16:3 By Dr. M.H. Salahshurian, Ph. D In our text for today, Solomon reminding us that to be successful, before we embark upon any plan for the future, we need to submit it to the Lord. Sadly, oftentimes, only after things had gone wrong, as an afterthought we try to seek God. Earlier, Solomon reminded us in Proverbs 3:5-6 that: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” There are three (3), basic elements of our lives which we need to submit to the Lord: FIRST, We need to submit our lives; the future plans and our occupation to Him. If the Lord Jesus clearly stated in John 5:30, and John 8:28 by saying, “ I can of mine own self do nothing...; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me,” how much more we need to submit our plans to God! SECOND, We need to relay on His Promises when we get discouraged, attempting to implement the plans He has given us. In Matthew 11:28-30 we read: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” THIRD, Living in this fallen world, there would be obstacles. Again, we need to remember what the Lord said in John 16:33: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Remember, what the Apostle Paul, the man who wrote most of the epistles of the New Testament said in Philippians 1:6 and Philippians 2:13. Philippians 1:6 “ Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 2:13 “ For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Psalm 37:4 “ Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. theswordandshield
