03 Feb RECOGNISE THE MAN GOD SENT Categories: Daily Devotional “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper”. 2 Chronicles 20:20 Every time God wants to do anything on earth, He sends a man who He made. That is why in the beginning He sent the first man Adam. And when he failed He sent other men. That is why we can hear of the prophets, the priests and the other people who functioned for God as His oracle. This deployment of men on assignment by God climaxed with Jesus. It climaxed at the redemption of man. Hundreds of years ahead of time God prepared a man that would be the forerunner of Jesus Christ and his name was John. Isaiah 40:3 spoke of John the Baptist. He said the voice of one crying in the wilderness. John 1:6 tells us that “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.” Now if you look at that scripture it says there was a ‘MAN’ sent by God, not an Angel sent by God. I am trying to show you how God functions so that you can recover everything. Some of you won’t recognize it even when God shows up in your bedroom because you don’t know the ways of God and as a result you think the devil is in operation. The Bible says Moses knew the ways of God but the children of Israel knew the acts. When John’s time was ripe for his assignment, God sent him to reveal another man: Jesus. Jesus came to Jordan to be baptized by John the Baptist like any other man. I am sure some people may have elbowed and shoved Him aside as they struggled to get to the front. Even John did not know Jesus but as he was baptizing , I guess he lifted himself to clean sweat from his brows and then something caught his attention. He noticed Jesus and pointed ‘behold the lamb which taketh away the sins of the world.’ Then scripture tells us as Jesus came to him, an argument ensued between them over Jesus’ baptism but Jesus said to John I am not going to start this new ministry without your endorsement. I recognize you as the man God has sent to announce me to my generation, therefore I can not become if I don’t recognize God’s hand upon your life. And John obliged Him. Only then did the heavens open. The Holy ghost descended and Jesus was announced to the world by God: ‘this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased’. Heaven endorsed Jesus because He recognized the man John. Some of you struggle because you are running on tangent. You are operating contrary to scripture. God can not save you or call you and want you to struggle. No wonder in John 15 Jesus said “I am the vine, ye are the branches.” What does a branch do to produce? Nothing! It simply stays connected to the vine. Beloved, all you need to do to become fruitful is to connect to the man God has sent over your life. So I charge you today, stay connected.
