04-11-14 TUESDAY DAILY ONE PERUMAL TEMPLE தினம் ஒரு பெருமாள் கோயில் KOTHANDARAMAR TEMPLE TANJORE .It is said that the only Rama temple in Tamil Nadu, the moolavar deities are been made of the sacred Salagramam stones. Usually we can find the black Salagramam stone in the shape of a small stone formed in nature at Nepal. Here at the Kothandaramar temple, each of the big sized moolavar idols Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Sugreeva in standing position are made of Salagramam stones. The Nepal king who was the son in law of Thanjavur Maratha King had presented these deities for his daughter’s marriage. Here we can see thousand four hundred year old bronze Utsavar idols of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. It is believed that it was found at Puvanur village near Needamangalam in Thiruvarur district. In this temple’s sanctum we can see an idol for Sugreeva. Which is believed that Rama, in recognition of Sugreeva’s help in finding Sita, wanted him by his side, is the specialty of this place. The temple was built by the Maratha king Pratap Singh, who lived in the 18th century. There are references that the Maratha queen Yamunambal Bai gifted a lot of fertile land for this temple. She has also contributed in various other ways for the progress of this temple. Maratha King Shivaji and Kamatchiamba Bai also contributed in a big way to this temple. Inside the premises Lord Hanuman shrine is seen in a standing posture facing South with a lifted right hand and lotus in his left hand.On the ceiling of the Hanuman mandap, we can see stone carvings of the 12 astro signs. The belief is that devotees who stand under their respective astro sign and offer sincere prayers to the Lord will be relieved from all the difficulties relating to their sign. அருள்மிகு கோதண்டராம சுவாமி திருக்கோயில் பட்டீஸ்வரம்-612 703, கும்பகோணம் வட்டம், தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம். ஞானசம்பந்தருக்காக அமைந்த ஆனி மாத முத்துப் பந்தல் உத்ஸசம் பட்டீஸ்வரம் தேனுபுரீஸ்வரர் ஆலயத்தில் விமரிசையாக நடைபெறுகிறது. அப்போது இந்த கோதண்டராம சுவாமி ஆலயத்துக்கு வரும் திருஞானசம்பந்தருக்கு, கோதண்டராமருக்கு சாத்திய பட்டு வஸ்திரத்தை அணிவிப்பார்கள். இந்த மரியாதை நிகழ்வு இன்றும் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. இங்குள்ள கோதண்டராமருக்கு அபிஷேகம் செய்து நெய் தீபமேற்றி நேர்த்திகடன் செலுத்துகின்றனர்
