041013 THE ERRORS OF WARRIORS Psalms 78:9-16 Psalm 78:9 NLT “The warriors of Ephraim, though fully armed, turned their backs and fled when the day of battle came.” Turning one’s back, in the face of battle, is synonymous with defeat. The courage to confront the enemy is necessary, in any contest; it is one of the foundational secrets for victory. What you don’t confront, you cannot conquer. The Bible says, “The warriors of Ephraim, though fully armed, turned their backs and fled, when the day of battle came.” The warriors of Ephraim dressed up for victory, fully armed, yet lost the battle. This shall not be your testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ. Victory is your heritage; no devil will take it from you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Why did they turn their back, when the day of battle came? The passage gave us three reasons for this. Firstly they did not keep the covenant. Victory requires more than been a warrior. Ephraim lost the courage for victory, when he begins to break the covenant. You need to understand that, there is a covenant dimension to victory. You cannot keep breaking the covenant of victory, and expect to enjoy victory. By covenant, Ephraim is a victor, but he made himself a victim, by breaking the covenant. Secondly they refused to walk in His law. They did not submit to, the authority, of God’s word. The authority you did not submit to, cannot work for you. The Bible says, “ Submit to God; resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Ephraim fled from, what supposed to flee from him, because he refused to, submit to God’s word. Thirdly, they forgot His works and His wonders, that He showed them. In order to successfully pass today’s test, there is a need to recollect past testimonies. The memory of past victories helps to build up, the faith and the courage that is needed, for the present challenges. David recounted his victory, over the bear and the lion shortly, before he confronted Goliath. Ephraim made himself a victim of defeat, because he forgot the wonders of God he enjoyed, in his past battles. The fact that you made it from January to October, is an evidence, that you have enjoyed the work and the wonders, of God. Celebrate Him! APPLICATION Keep celebrating God’s faithfulness. PRAYER FOCUS Father, I thank You for past testimonies of victory, and thank You for wonderful testimonies, reserved for this month, in Jesus’ name. BIBLE READING Nahum 1 Nahum 2 Nahum 3 Isaiah 43
