In Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan again violated ceasefire several times in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors last night with heavy mortar and rocket shelling at 13 Indian posts and forward villages. Pak Rangers fired 82 mm mortars and rockets targeting seven to eight forward villages and BSF posts at SM Pur, Narayanpur, Chamblyal and Nanga, from 8.30 pm yesterday. The Border Security Force retaliated very effectively giving an equal response to the Pak Rangers. The heavy exchange of fire in Ramgarh continued till 3 am today morning while in R.S.Pura sector it was going on intermittently when reports last came in. As rockets and mortars started landing in forward villages, about 150 people from SM Pur and Jasso Chak mostly women and children boarded trucks and trolleys and shifted to Radha Swami Satsang Ghar at Ramgarh town last night. Meanwhile, authorities have ordered closure of all Government schools in Pargwal sector, which directly falls in the firing range of the Rangers. India has rejected Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs demand for US intervention in resolving the Kashmir issue. Talking to a private channel yesterday in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said that India will not accept this as the matter is a bilateral one which was accepted in the Shimla Agreement between the two nations. He expressed concern over repeated ceasefire violations at the Line of Control and hoped these do not result in any more casualties. Mr. Khurshid, however, rejected suggestions that these have led to a collapse of the truce between the two neighbours. He said that India forces are ready to meet any eventuality. He said Kashmir is an integral part of India and no one should raise a question on that. This is a bilateral issue and we will settle it bilaterally. We will not budge on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and I think our Prime Minister said this very clearly to the Pakistani Prime Minister when they met in New York. Meanwhile, United States said that there has not been an iota of change on its policy on Kashmir and it is a bilateral issue between the two nations. Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif, who is on a four-day official visit to the United States, had sought intervention from the US in resolving the Kashmir issue. Dismissing the efforts of Pakistan, a senior US administration official said that it is for both the countries to determine the pace, scope and character of their dialogue on Kashmir. India and Russia will sign several agreements and MoUs in various fields following annual summit talks in Moscow today. Agreements will be signed on Programme of Cooperation in the field of Biotechnology, Cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation and a treaty on transfer of sentenced persons. While, MoUs will be signed in two different fields including enhancing cooperation in energy saving and energy efficiency and closer technical cooperation in the field of standardization between Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS and Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Meteorology of Russia. Highly placed diplomatic sources said that Commercial agreement on the third and fourth nuclear reactors for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu would not be inked during the visit. But both India and Russia are very close to clinching a commercial deal on the third and fourth reactors and only the legal vetting of the deal is left. After his arrival in Moscow yesterday, the Prime Minister said that India and Russia share a privileged, special partnership. He said that both the countries will discuss trade and investment and also review the international and regional developments and how they impact both the countries. In Amil, 35 people were killed and 45 injured when a suicide bomber slammed his explosive-laden car into a busy cafe. In a village north of Baghdad, a car bomb targeted a police officers house, killing 7 of his family members and wounding six others. Meanwhile, the head of the local security committee, Muthana Ismail said that security forces foiled an attack on the local council of the western town of Rawah by five suicide bombers disguised in police uniforms. Two police officers and an official were killed in the attack, while 20 people were injured. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Bilateral talks between India and Bangladesh on Customs Co-operation to begin in Dhaka today. Our correspondent reports that the last talks were held in New Delhi in April, 2012. The talks assume importance in the background of increasing trade between India and Bangladesh. According to High Commission of India, the two sides are expected to review existing mechanisms for exchange of customs related information, infrastructure facilities available at Land Customs Stations, and deal with trade-related procedural bottlenecks like testing facilities, online processing facilities and documentation. In Jammu and Kashmir, Rashtriya Bal Sawasthya Karyakarm, RBSK under National Rurual Helth Mission would be launched from next month to provide free healthcare facilities to children. Under this scheme children from the age group of 0-18 years would be screened for early detection of birth defects, deficiencies and other diseases by mobile medical teams at blocks level. A report: For implementing this scheme, J&K government is making 234 medical mobile teams consisting 2 AYUSH doctors and one ANM in each team to screen the children for providing treatment against the diseases. The government through district health societies is going to engage 773 AYUSH doctors and other para-medical staff under National Rural Health Mission besides set up the District Early Innervations Centers. Rashtriya Bal Sawasthya Karyakarm programme was earlier approved by the Centre in three pilot districts of J&K State viz Rajouri, Leh and Ganderbal but the Centre has now approved the implementation of this scheme to all districts of the J&K State.
