09 Jul 2013 - Tropical Active. TROPICAL STORM CHANTAL - North Atlantic. Caribbean. Centered on 13.8N 59.7W about 45 miles NNW of Barbados. Central pressure 1010 mb (amazingly high). Sustained winds 45 knots gusting 55 with 80 mile radius. Seas exceeding 4 meters to 100 mile radius. Tracking WNW at 23 knots. This cyclone will move through the Lesser Antilles this morning and will likely strengthen, but not to hurricane strength before it crosses the island of Hispanola on Wednesday when it should begin to weaken. TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS: Barbados, Dominica, St Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloup, Puerto Rico, South coast of Dominican Republic Cabo Engano to Haiti. TROPICAL STORM WATCH: St Vincent, US Virgin Islands, Vieques and Culebra, North Coast of Dominican Republic, Haiti. VOS within 300 miles of centre report every 3 hours. TROPICAL DEPRESSION ERICK - This system has moved over cooler waters and deep convection has dissipated. Centered on 23.9N 112.4W. Central pressure 1006 mb. Tracking NW at 9 knots. This cyclone is expected to spin down and become a remnant low today. No further reports unless regeneration appears likely.
