091613 WHILE THEY WORSHIP AND FAST Acts 13:1-3 Acts 13:2 “While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me, now at once, Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them.” (WNT) DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: The Holy Spirit is the chief administrator of the work of God, on the earth. There is no Christian worker, or labourer, in the vineyard of God, that can succeed without His input, and guidance. The Holy Spirit determines the location, and the allocation, for every kingdom emissary. It is therefore important, for everyone who desires to offer an acceptable service to the Lord, to be in tune with the Holy Spirit, and to be accustomed to the atmosphere He moves in. Worship creates an enabling environment, for the Holy Spirit to manifest. The Bible says, “While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said.” Anytime men minister to God with a heartfelt worship the Holy Spirit ministers to men the heartbeat of God. To enjoy a fresh download of the mind of God, we need to create the right atmosphere for the Holy Spirit. Fasting does not move the Holy Spirit, but it demonstrates our thirst for Him; silences our flesh, and strengthens our spirit man, to be sensitive to the flow of the Spirit. Do you know it is possible for the Holy Spirit to speak during our worship without anyone picking it? It takes the spirit to understand the way of the Spirit. The Bible says, deep calls to deep at the noise of Your waterfalls. That is the reason the flesh must be disciplined, through fasting for our spirits, to do the discerning. (Psalm42:7) APPLICATION: Make it a habit once a week, to combine your worship with a fast. PRAYER FOCUS: Father, show me my portion in Your work, in Jesus’ name BIBLE READING John1 John 2 John 3 Psalms 136
