0PEN LETTER TO ARVIND KHEJRIWAL HELP US TO DEFEND YOU AND SILENCE THOSE WHO DARE TO BRING DOWN THIS MOVEMENT LET US STRENGTHEN THE MOVEMENT BY KEEPING IT TRANSPARENT AND TRUTHFUL 5 POINT ACTION PLAN FOR 15 DAYS Dear Arvind, We thank you for giving this country a movement for the first time against corruption. We admire your courage in exposing the corruption of powerful politicians and their relatives. And we respect your decision to enter politics. We wish you more strength, more success and bigger things to come. We want this movement to spread across the country. The only way this can happen is to continuously remain transparent and truthful. The life line of this movement is the promise of good governance to be achieved by your anti-corruption agenda. The eyes of the world are watching the survival of an anti-corruption crusade in a corrupt, third world country. Good Indians believe in you. We can kill the corruption and punish those who have ruined this nation. Your Delhi government can do this easily, very easily. It will be a model for replication in urban areas certainly. Hence I make the following five requests. 1. Ask your law minister to resign immediately or if he is innocent then defend him publicly. He is alleged to have abused women and your spokesmen have not given any explanation. Times Now has openly said that AAP refuses to come on the channel. So please conduct a quick, simple administrative enquiry and if the allegations are found to be prima facie correct then please ask the minister to go. This can be done even if a judicial process is in progress. The resignation is an administrative decision. Please don’t make this a prestige issue and don’t think you have been defeated. You will come out stronger if you do the right thing. 2. File FIRs in police stations against corrupt politicians and bureaucrats of the previous government. This process must start immediately because an FIR is not a detail charge sheet. It is only a complaint regarding corruption based on prima facie evidence. The police will then do a detail investigation and file a charge sheet in the court. You can monitor this later but once an FIR is registered you can proudly say you have done your job. 3. Issue a weekly bulletin stating the administrative and governance reforms you have introduced. People like us can help you free of cost. 4. Send draft charges against policemen to the central government instead of asking policemen to be suspended. Governments generally do not suspend them because politicians and police are partners in corruption. If you draft charges describing specific misconduct of the policemen, the central home ministry will have to take cognisance. If even then they refuse to act please file FIRs against central government politicians and officials for criminal conspiracy. Do this in two cases and the entire police force will come under your effective control. 5. Appoint a security force of persons who can be rotated since the regular police might not co-operate. Place these men in plain clothes in buses and public places to bring victims and eve teasers (women molesters) to the police stations for registering complaints. All areas need not be covered at one time. Just a few examples of swift punishment are required to create the deterrent. (Probir Sen, IAS ret. had previously suggested that policemen should be asked to do this. But govt. did not implement it.) Let’s start with this, Arvind. Make us all proud of you.
