In 1880 Edmond Tétard (1860-1901) took over Orfèvrerie Hugo, Paris (established 1851) and developed it into a leading silver manufacturing business. Like other leading silversmiths of its day, the firms art was highly eclectic; its designers borrowed and adapted ideas from earlier historical styles bur also worked in the prevailing Art Nouveau style. The firm is still in operation, based at its original premises at Rue Beranger
