1- IF JESUS ISN’T GOD- We shouldn’t waste our time I used to tell non-Christians, “If I’m wrong about Jesus being God, at least I’ve lived a good life even if there is no Heaven.” Then 1Cor 15.19 ruined my lie: “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” I once thought that being a good person who didn’t cuss, drink, steal, cheat, or drown puppies was a divine quality no matter if God existed or not. However, the truth is that good people are loved in this world, but godly people are not. A godly man doesn’t abstain from sin for his health or popularity but because he is commanded to be different, and the world abhors “different.” Anyone “who desires to live a godly life… will be persecuted (2Tim 3.12).” Non-Christians ought to despise disciples, and if Jesus isn’t God, then we are just wasting our lives trying to be good rather than enduring the suffering that comes from following Jesus.
