1,050 examinees take A&E test in Ifugao ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao Dec. 15 (PIA) - - A total of 1,050 examinees including five inmates took the 2014 Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) examination conducted by the Department of Education -Bureau of Alternative Learning Systems (BALS) on December 7 in three testing areas in the province. Arsenio Yongoyog, BALS coordinator, said that out of the 1,608 test registrants, only 1,050 took the examination that represent a turn-out of 65.30%. 1,013 took the test for the secondary level and 37 for elementary level. The ALS A&E examination is given for free to qualified examinees. Those who pass the exam are qualified to enter secondary school for elementary passers, and to enroll into technical/vocational or a college course. It is part of the Philippine education system but an alternative to the regular classroom studies where Filipino students are required to attend daily. The alternative system only requires students to choose schedules according to their choice and availability. The program has two different schematics for conducting instruction: school-based and community-based. On the school-based program, instructions are conducted in school campuses while in the community-based program, formal instructions are conducted in community halls or on private places.
