1/16/14 Tracking Trinity Pines With Marilyn Lohman You know how hard is to keep a surprise party a surprise. Well, Marge W had a complete surprise party. Her five children and many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were here a couple Saturdays ago to celebrate her birthday with cake and ice cream in the Pines’ dining room. She is fortunate to have most of them live in and around Lake Mills. Huge hurrahs to the Lake Mills Community Band for coming here a week ago on one of the coldest days when everything was closed down. They warmed all of us with their music for this past season. Even though it was mostly Christmas music it is music we never tire of and has just as much meaning now as before Christmas. There are over 20 people, young and old in the band and their blending is tops. Thank you. As I attend the many events held in the Pines’ dining room, I can’t help but marvel how the room takes all of them, making each one special, no matter what they are. It is a beautiful room. Last Friday we had a treat with Lahna A bringing one of her five harps to play tunes from many, many years ago. The dining room was filled with dulcet tones soothing to the ear. She enhanced the program wearing a beautiful dress usually seen between the years 1840-70 and, yes, she does have calluses on her fingertips. I got the low down from Loretta G about the cruise she was on last week with several members of her family. The food was, of course, delicious, in fact, dress up night they had all the lobster they wanted. A high light was when Loretta took an excursion trip to Jamaica. They stopped at an elementary school where they were able to mingle with the children. They returned last Saturday evening missing a Friday return when the roads were sheets of ice. At income tax time (coming soon), did you ever notice: when you put the two words “The” and “IRS” together it spells – THEIRS?” …in 2014 may peace break into your homes and may thieves come to steal your debts…may the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills.
