1-23-15 Lead Me Lord Through This Day Psalm 5:8-Common English Bible (CEB) 8 LORD, because of many enemies, please lead me in your righteousness. Make your way clear, right in front of me. What do you face today? There are challenges that we face on a daily basis. Along with challenges comes with opportunities to learn and grow physically, mentally and spiritually. Have you ever dreaded something or someone you know you had to face? I have found that when I pray about whatever is bothering me I can endure and learn in every situation. The one thing that I have to fight is negative self-talk. Many times I find out that all my fears were not grounded in fact but in scenarios that I created in my own mind. I have to get rid of the clutter. But, if I don’t replace the clutter of negative thoughts with thoughts of peace and victory in Christ, the clutter finds its way back into my heart and mind. Jesus told this story about sweeping away the clutter in our lives. Jesus urged people to understand His mission. When they understood His mission, they would learn about the power of God and God’s plan for humanity. Jesus used the story of a cleaned house that was decorated very nicely but was not filled with God’s Spirit. The people asked Jesus for a sign. The sign and promise from God was right in front of them. A church or a temple which is highly decorated but not full of God’s Spirit is truly empty. Luke11:23-26 23 “Whoever isn’t with me is against me, and whoever doesn’t gather with me, scatters. 24 When an unclean spirit leaves a person, it wanders through dry places looking for a place to rest. But it doesn’t find any. Then it says, ‘I’ll go back to the house I left.’ 25 When it arrives, it finds the house cleaned up and decorated. 26 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself. They go in and make their home there. That person is worse off at the end than at the beginning.” My prayer for you and me today is to clean up the clutter and cling to God’s message and gift to us in Jesus, the Christ.
