1/26/15 - It was a beautiful weekend. And Im glad Holt has some hair on top of his head now. As its only January, I didnt think much about sunscreen even though we were outside most of the weekend. At least it was cool enough for long sleeves on Saturday. Im going to have to be better about the sunscreen in the coming weeks and months. On Saturday, The Sunshine Kids Foundation hosted a party, sponsored be Peli Peli a restaurant with a South African cuisine. The restaurant brought samples for tasting, and once that was done, they brought out a warm lunch for everyone. Of the samples, Grant thought most were a little spicy, but hes not much on heat. The rest of us enjoyed most of the dishes, although Holt wasnt a fan of the texture of the sausage. My favorite was the pup and gravy, explained to me as a fine grit (looked almost like mashed potatoes) with cooked veggies in a tomato based sauce. The chef also put on a few cooking demonstrations. Even though it was a fairly good sized crowd, they had a mirror above the demonstration area so you could see what was happening on the stove. They also had a bunch of activities for the kids. Billiards, playground, face painting, photo booth with costumes, a station where you could decorate your new apron (one given to each kid) or another craft, a bracelet making station, and a balloon guy. Holt felt really comfortable there, and hed just wander off to his next activity or start playing with some of the other kids. The worst part of the day for Holt was when he accidentally popped his balloon sword. Of course it had to be real close to the end of the day, when he was tired, so the tears really poured out. Thankfully, the balloon guy stayed a few minutes extra and Holt was able to get a new one. A nap on the way home, and Holt was ready to spend the rest of the afternoon outside. We rode bikes all around the neighborhood, and then scooters, and didnt come in until after dark. Sunday was all about outside as well, except for cupcake decorating at the Pascuccis (awesome neighbors). Crystal ate Grants winter decorated cupcake today, and Grant was not very happy about it. Crystal spent Sunday afternoon with her parents in Rosenberg after church at League City United Methodist Church with us boys so she wasnt aware of the cupcake ownership. Holt was very excited to be out of the house and going to church. He would have rather enjoyed attending Childrens Church instead of the traditional church, but mommy isnt ready and hasnt received approval from MD. Anyway, Basketball, swings, chasing bubbles, hockey, and more swordplay, among other activities meant we were outside for the majority of noon to seven or so. Holt later told Crystal it was the best day ever, but considering how down hes been lately, a long day outside with friends would be the best. So, Holts spirits are on the up and up, especially with the train tracks back out in the living room tonight. As far as medicine goes, Holt got his fifth Erwinia shot today, and will get his sixth and last on Wednesday, bringing us to the end of this treatment stage. Thank you for the continued prayers, support and positive thought.
