1 . Amendment Bill, 2013 or the Prevention of Disqualification bill passed by Lok Sabha The lower house of the parliament, Lok Sabha passed the prevention of disqualification bill otherwise called the Amendment bill 2013. The purpose of this bill is to include chairpersons of National Commissions for the SC and ST out of horizon of office of profit. This bill was initiated on May 9th 2013. 2. India-born Pakistan’s new President Mamnoon Hussain, an India-born takes oath as Pakistan’s new 12th president by the Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. Mamnoon Hussain, born in Agra and a textile business person sworn in as Pakistan’s new President. 3. Rajya Sabha passes the Securities and Exchange Board Bill 2013 Rajya Sabha passed the Securities and Exchange Amendment Bill 2013 on 5th September 2013 which was formerly approved by the Lok Sabha on August 27th 2013. The main objective of this bill is to widen the eligibility area for the candidates for the post of presiding officer at the Securities Appellate Tribunal. 4. Quadricycle has been declared as Commercial vehicle and would be found on roads from October 2013 The government declared a draft notification which classifies Quadricycle as a commercial vehicle under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. A 4-wheeled vehicle which is bigger than auto-rickshaw and smaller than a compact car is likely to hit the country’s roads from October 2013. 5. Online Portal for Bharat Nirman Campaign The Ministry for I&B (Information & Broadcasting) Manish Tiwari launched an online portal for the Bharat Nirman Campaign on September 9th 2013. The intention behind launching this portal is to provide an interactive digital platform for the creative campaign for various schemes and programs. 6. Largest Volcano on Earth discovered Tamu Massif is the largest volcano on Earth discovered by Scientists which is deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. It is wide spread across an area of 31,000 sq km and worth comparing with the Mars Olymus Mons Volcano, which is considered to be the largest in the Solar System.
