1 BR in 2 BR/1BA apartment for $950. N. Lake Merritt aka Adams Point, on Euclid ave @ Jayne Street. Lovely, convenient neighborhood. Awesome views. aware, active, trans* roommate. zero cats. no cats. pics coming soon! Half mile to Whole foods and Lake, 1.3 miles to 19th ST BART. (My commute to downtown SF is only 40 mins, half of which is walking past the lake). NEXT STEP: Read the below, and if interested message me, preferably before 4pm Wednesday 10/8. JOIN ME: Landlord called today, said he thinks Im great and at front of line IF I find another roommate (I had hoped to get place and THEN find roommate). Thats where you come in. Please move quickly. I am going to see it again tomorrow (Wednesday 10/8) at 5:30PM and will take pictures, or you can come with me if we are in it for sure by then. ABOUT ME: trans*, 26, she and her pronouns. I am starting a new job at a nonprofit in SF near Montgomery BART. Its a big organization, and Ill be the first openly trans* person to work there ever! 9-5 Monday-Friday. No car. Yay bikes. Low to no substance use (ideally you are the same). Vegan-ish. Mindfulness practice. Light musician. Background in environmental activism. Developing anti-oppression lens and practice for some time now. WHAT I WANT IN MY HOME, APARTMENT-MATE: - peaceful, creative, cover-the-basics and a bit more resting place that supports me doing a great job at my job, and enjoying my friends and life in Oakland. - clear boundaries. We will have our own lives, and still find a way to share not just the space, but ideally enjoy each others company from time to time. - dishes clean and clear right after or by the end of the night - we need to apply to this place together, so ideally you have good credit and/or stable income 2-3x your rent. - predictable quiet time (probably another 9-5er). When I can I do stay up later and sleep later, but am pretty quiet about it, and sleep deeply. - trans*positive - I came to Oakland to take my gender seriously. My presentation will vary from day to day and you need to be a trans* person, a queer person, or quite an ally. - interests in arts, healing, dance, meditation, mindful eating, a plus - all people encouraged to write me, especially women and trans* people, queer people, and people of color. MORE ABOUT THE PLACE: STRENGTHS - neighborhood - quiet, convenient. -position/orientation of apartment - its a corner apartment, facing mostly west and a bit north. this also means its not facing the freeway which is two blocks from the unit. -new stove (sadly electric) - great views, oakland skyline and sunsets and lots of sky + some neighborhood. (its not the top of the building, but were up on a small hill) - comfy carpet throughout - wood cabinets - building manager whos super on it, and queer-friendly - a good deal for this market - good floor plan - quiet - walkable/bikeable, lake nearby, between downtown and grandlake area - me! dependable chill interesting queer roommate looking to make a real home - laundry in basement (coin operated is neutral ;) Weaknesses - its not luxurious in space or amenities (like perhaps if you got a room in a group house at this price range) - you get a good sized living room and kitchen, and then satisfactory sized bedrooms. Were paying for location and view and well-managed building. and this market. - besides view and neighborhood, interior is not fancy (for price maybe 4 months ago you couldve gotten something else, or in different neighborhood) - garage parking has a waitlist, and street parking is tough there - while its close to whole foods, its mostly uphill from whole foods to the apartment - that its a few dozen units instead of a few units - it would be nice to just be able to step outside from my front door, instead of walk down a short hallway and 6 stairs to be outside. as a trans* person I feel a bit sensitive to privacy, and having to walk past 8 units on my way out the door feels vulnerable, but ah well. - carpet is brown (I like) but some might not. thanks for reading! hope to hear from you! PM me, feel free to tell me to check other folder. Ask questions, share about you, and how you spend your week and any needs preferences at home.
