1 Cor 12:12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all - TopicsExpress

1 Cor 12:12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Cor 12: 22-26 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. BUT GOD HAS PUT THE BODY TOGETHER, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. I love the clause, “But God has put…”. Yesterday I focused on the interconnectedness we share by a discussion of pain as highlighted in verse 26. That is, the more we can feel the pain of those on our team and the people we serve, the more we are able to be like Christ in serving them. Today, for just a few lines, I want to glory in the fact that “God puts” or you could say that “God selects” or “God does”. He is the source of this team. He chose you and put you together with the people with whom you will serve. Notice the verses above. Some people’s gifts just stand out for everyone to see. I think these are “the presentable parts of the body”, the ones that don’t require special honor. Other people’s gifts may be in the background, but are just as important. These are, metaphorically, related in the text to “the unpresentable parts” upon whom God himself places special honor. These folks are just as important and just as treasured. Therefore, there is no room for anyone to either look down on anyone or to feel inferior. Why? Because God puts. God directs. God honors. God causes. God breathes. God empowers. God guides. God brings. God finishes. God loves. Don’t be overwhelmed with other people’s gifts or apparently “having everything together”. Everyone is important and everyone has a unique reason why God has “put” you on this team. If you focus more on the fact that God does and God directs, there is less room for the enemy to divide this team with jealousy or feelings of inferiority. We all have a part to play. Prayer Focus: 1. What gifts has God given me? 2. How will I respond when I hear the voice of Satan telling me I am better or worse than someone else? 3. How will I respond if someone else is struggling with these issues of self-worth? Pray for People: 1. Marta de Molina & family 2. Cecibel Romano & family 3. Rene and Veronica Rios 4. Andy Lamb 5.
