1 Corinthians 1:8-9; He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. Many believers trust and believe in Gods power to save them, but then they doubt His power, ability and willingness to keep them saved. They live in constant fear of falling away from the faith. They are afraid they might not make it to the finished line. So rather than trusting in Gods grace to keep them, they are so bent on pleasing God through their own effort that they lose sight of grace and faith righteousness and drift into law and works righteousness. They are bent on keeping themselves saved through their own power and effort that they keep frustrating the grace of God; Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. The righteousness they got by faith, they are now trying to maintain by the law. The righteousness of faith can only be maintained by faith; Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from FAITH TO FAITH: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Another version says it is by faith from start to finish. In our text, apostle Paul did not only tell us that God will keep us, but that He is faithful, reliable, trustworthy, can be depended on, etc. 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amplified version. Philippians 1:6 And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.
