1 Corinthians 12:27-31 Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it. And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, gifts of healing, helps, gifts of leadership, different kinds of tongues. Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they? Not all have gifts of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they? But you should be eager for the greater gifts.And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. According to this passage, God designed gifts for the function of the church. (See verse 28 for list) The question is, are we recognizing and encouraging these gifts in the church today? What about Apostles? Does that responsibility still exist today, or was it reserved for the time of Christ and his disciples? Everyone doesn’t possess all the gifts. Yet with all of these gifts that are given through the power of the Holy Spirit, Paul suggests a “most excellent way (NIV). That way is Love as 1 Corinthians 13 goes on to describe.
