1 December 1972: 1. George Bradshaw, 30-year-old Catholic civilian, married with 2 children and a bus driver. 2. Thomas Duffy, 24-year-old Catholic civilian, married with 1 child and a bus conductor. Both men were killed in Dublin city centre when the UVF detonated a large bomb. The bomb was the 2nd that night and exploded at 8:19PM in Sackville Place off OConnell Street. The 1st bomb exploded at 8:00PM at Liberty Hall. A total of 127 people were injured in the explosions. Each bomb contained around 100lbs of explosives. The Belfast News Letter received an anonymous telephone call saying giving the locations of the bomb and saying that they would explode at 8:05PM. The information was passed by the RUC to the Gardaí but the 1st bomb had already exploded. Loyalists from the Armagh area were suspected of carrying out the attack. Both the UVF and the UDA denied responsibility for the attack. All republican groups denied involvement as well and blamed British intelligence for carrying out the attacks because of the timing and the Dail debates. Reliable loyalist sources said the UVF carried out the attack. Mr. Bradshaw was from Offington AVenue, Sutton, Co. Dublin. He was on duty only because he had changed shifts with a colleague. His wife was from Belfast. Mr. Duffy was from Gracefield Avenue, Artane, Dublin. He was a native of Mayo and had a 2-year-old daughter. His wife was expecting their 2nd child. LEST WE FORGET!
