1: Driving around town it is obvious that something must done about our streets. As for renewal of the tax, before we ask the people to renew a tax, I would want to see what the study says and measure from there if we need to keep the tax revenue or pay for it within the budget after the revenue is decreased. If the people of Stillwater are agreeable with taking more time to fix the problem then we will have to find a way to do it. If not, we will need the tax renewed. Let the people Choose. 2: Building a new power plant is good idea that I support. If we build the plant, GRDA will pay the Citizens four and a half million dollars a year, this will pay for the financing on plant with a surplus. It will give the city an emergency power supply in the event of a disaster. Over time when the cost is retired there will be a surplus to the city but more importantly an invaluable asset that sets us apart from other communities. My goal would be to see that “peak time usage” charges are reduced or deleted. 3: Creating a new authority is a good idea, so long as the authority is in the best interest of the people. I believe an authority would function well so long as it listens to the citizens. Not everyone agrees that parking on the grass is a bad thing, not everyone has an issue with parking a block away from where they work, my concern with this or any authority is how far it will reach and rather or not the peoples best interest are heeded. I want a higher standard of upkeep in the city, but it must be practical. 4: I do not believe in “Big Government” However, I do believe in effective governmental action. I as a citizen first, am not satisfied with our normal operation; I know we can do better. As your City Councilor, it is time to put our dreams to work and find a new route to Prosperity. It will take the action of every citizen and their servants in government, to work together to improve our way of doing business. I want other communities to look to Stillwater and Ask “what are they doing?” not,” where did they go?” I ask for your vote.
