Also my friends summarily dismissed Italy as a team we should have beaten, hang on wait a minute they are number 14. Costa Rica, a team everyone thought were going to be the whipping boys have miraculously made number 16. Greece are there at number 11, this is a team that has never beaten England, how pony and trap is that ! Bosnia Herzegovina ? Do me a favour ! Spain went home with their tail between their legs now 8. Portugal, another team that flopped and also qualified through the back door number 11. England 20, well its much of a muchness, who comes up with these figures beats me; and to prove my point. The last time England were ranked so low was in June 1996, when they were placed 24th before Euro 96. However, their position was artificially depressed because they did not have to qualify for the tournament.
