1. Hinduism is not a religion, it is the culture which is followed and taken care since thousands of years. Example the Arabs follow their old traditional dress code, they have more are less similar customs in their life style 2. We all know that God is only one, The Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva all are different fomrs of God. As you know India is having 26 main languages and with more than 200 different slants. Hence each reason have their own manifestation like in the area of Gujarat Lord Krishna, in Maharashtra Lord Ganesha, In West Bengal Kaali Maata etc., Earlier before globalization those areas of people use to meditate only those Gods. As India has transforming into Globalization, people started moving from one state to another state thus bringing their culture and tradition as well and thus for the outsiders it is a feeling that All Hindus Worship more Gods and Goddess where as it is not. The same way when Moghuls came to India, the Britishers came to India, they bought their culture and heritage along with them. It is upto the people that they chosen their kind of interest. 3. Prophet Mohammed (PBUP) when he was meditating on the hill, the Angel Gabriel appeared to him by which the Qua ran was written. The same why when the monks were meditating, the God has appeared to them in those forms. But only the difference between Hinduism & Islam is that in Hinduism those forms were transformed to pictures and Idols because those forms cannot be seen by a common man. In Islam, there were no pictures of Angel Gabriel or even Prophet Mohammed (PBUP) in Saudi Arabia or anywhere else in the world.
