1. I just found out yesterday that my poem The Other Black man is apart of a LGBTQ theory class curriculum. At a different university my book Coming Out Of Nowhere is a required text in a Critical Race Theory in Education course. Im told that the students are deeply absorbed in my work. I can not believe that my work is being spoken about in universities, that poems, and books that came out of my head, my heart, and my journey are required reads. I didnt graduate from college, and my home life made it almost impossible to get out of high school. Im not saying Im proud of these two things, Im saying it is what it is, and Im proud of myself. 2. If youve been calling and texting me, do not expect a response this week. Unless Im sending out emails, my phone is on airplane mode until the week is out, heres why: Im adjusting to caring for a 5 year old. Myself Chace Mic Write Morris got ourselves a house, thats soon to be an artist hotel, so we are working around the clock to get this beauty in order. Fall is back so Im getting my touring schedule in order, its a mess. Im working a 9-5, trying to figure out which teaching offers I want to accept. Getting over a summer love, relearning that sometimes its right person, wrong time, or just wrong person, either way it needs to be forward motion. Overall, this week is about business, and self care. No, I havent read any of your text, no, I havent received any of your calls. No, I cant help you with your problems this week, but I can pray for you! ...Oh, and my film that you guys donated a shit ton of money to is finished, we are using this week to polish, and meet sundance deadlines! Thanks for understanding. Oh, remember that time that I lowkey dropped the fact that me and mic write has an 8 bedroom house thats soon to be an artist hotel?! Congrats mic, cheers to dedication
