1. In the book «Reflections on life» Alexis Carrel wrote: «Jesus knows our world. In contrast to the God, about which he wrote Aristotle, He did not despises us. We can speak to him, and He answers us. He was a man like us, butin this He is God, surpassing all things.» (Carrel, Reflections on Life, New York: Hawthorn Books, 1952. Chap. 6, Part 7). 2. «Why are we here? Where do we come from? Who are we? Absurd whether the belief in an afterlife? Only religion offers the ultimate solution to the human problem. Christianity, first of all, gave a clear answer to the deepest questions of the human soul». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 5). 3. «In need of God is expressed in prayer. Prayer is the cry of despair, a request for a assistance, a hymn of love. Prayer gives us the strength to endure cares and anxieties, to hope when there is no no reasonable grounds, to maintain the firmness of spirit, when all else fails». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 7). 4. In the book «Reflections on life» Professor Carrel thus describes his attitude to Christianity: «We love The one Who immaterial and omnipotent. Prayer opens the way for us to Him. We must love Him above all. And we also ought to love one another. A new era. Was opened only force that can unite all people. However, mankind has refused to recognize the value of this new principle for the organization of the life of the society. Humanity never understood that only mutual love can to save him from the strife, collapse and chaos. And not realized that no scientific discovery does not compare according to the significance of the revelation of the law of love, by Jesus the Crucified. Only guided by this law, the company will be able to survive.» (Carrel 1952, Chap. 3, Part 6). 5. «Christianity offers the man of the highest moral ideal. It refers to the God, Whom you worship, because It gives us such a the opportunity; the God Whom we are to love». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 9, Part 4). 6. «Like smoke in the wind, and I want to obey God.» (Cited in: Newton 1989). 7. «Of course, it is useless to talk to children about theology and of duty. But you need to, following the advice of Kant, from the early years to tell them about God as an invisible Father, Who protect them and to Whom they can turn in prayer. True glorification of God is to do His will.» (Carrel 1952, Chap. 8, Part 3). 8. «The words of Jesus penetrate to the very depth of life. They surpass philosophy; they violate any of the conventions; they are so amazing that in these days we are not able to fully understand them. The one who lives by the law of the jungle, the command to love your neighbor as yourself think the absurd». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 7 of The Need of God). 9. «Nevertheless, Jesus knows our world. No matter where we are, at any time of the day or night, Jesus is to come to us. We find It, just turning their thoughts and my love for Him. It is absolutely obvious that even in a society, created by science and technology, there is always the need for God». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 7 of The Need of God). «Millikan, Eddington and jeans after Newton believed that the cosmos is the result of the the actions of the Creative Mind». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 6). 10. «Modern man is guided by the sole rule of conduct is the desire to own pleasure. Everyone is enclosed in his egoism, as crab in the shell, and, like the crab, seeks to devour thy neighbour». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 1, Part 1). 11. «Nature is the brainchild of God, and to believe that its possible to correct something, - net water pride. To control nature, we must yield to it». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 2, Part 6). 12. «Truly, our civilization has forgotten, that it is born from the blood of Christ; she had forgotten God. But she still understands the beauty of the gospel narratives and the sermon on the mount. She was still touching words of pity and love, bring peace, and sometimes even the joy of the afflicted, the suffering, the sick and the dying». (Carrel 1952, Chap. 3, Part 6). 13. «Christian morality is incomparably stronger lay morality. Man never will enthusiastically to follow the laws of rational behavior, if only he does not accept the laws of life as the commands of a personal God. Unfortunately, the majority of our contemporaries are not able to act for the sake of love to others, to their country or to God, because they love only themselves.» (Carrel 1952, Chap. 6, Part 2).
