1. Incumbent board members enacted a ridiculous, unworkable policy. 2. I warn them it doesnt make any sense and needs to be changed to prevent predictable problems. 3. They disregard all of my attempts to fix the problem. No amendment ever gets enacted, certainly not due to a lack of trying on my part. 4. Policy they enacted for themselves puts the board in the position of having to convene extra otherwise unnecessary meetings in order to authorize the superintendent to get staff positions filled before school starts. 5. Same board members who enacted ridiculous policy refuse to get off their butts and come to the meeting their own policy calls for. 6. Superintendent is left in a position of having to knowingly violate the board policy in order to keep the school going and get prepared for the start of the year. This ridiculous practice of enacting absurd policies, then refusing to address them even when the problems are spelled out to them, only to then not bother to implement, enforce, or act upon said policies when the time comes only serves one purpose -- to foster an environment in which the administration doesnt have need to take the Board seriously. Why bother following the policies when the board doesnt? What happens when a teacher or a student violates the policy? Do they get to just sit on their butts and disregard its existence? We need to elect trustees that will take this more seriously, because the way things are going renders the board ineffective as an instrument of leadership in every conceivable way.
