1. Introductory The present book contains a collection of valuable and enjoyable memoirs and literary notes by Mr Ata Nasirdaftari, a distinguished Iranian industrialist and interior designer who is now the Director of Picasso Furniture Exhibition in Tehran. Mr Nasirdaftari is known on two accounts. First, he is a successful businessman of industrial and home furniture and secondly is currently a member of several cultural, literary and arts associations. These include the Literary Society of Iran, a learned society established more than a century ago, as well as many other literary and art circles like Bahar Khaghani of which he is a member of the Board of Directors. In this book, Mr Nasirdaftari has written his own biography and has also selected good examples of Persian poetry, written by various contemporary Iranian poets. Here we first offer some explanation about furniture which has been the main life professional commitment of this book’s author. 2. Author’s Biography Having been born in the city of Gholpayghan in central Iran, some 84 years ago, Mr Ata Nasirdaftari was trained in furniture producing profession first by attending the Iranian Art School called Honarestan in his youth. He worked with his uncle Mr Sharifniya who was a forerunner in this business in his time and owned the Ghashang Furniture shop. Later on, after a trip to Germany, Mr Nasirdaftari started his own furniture business and was a successful producer, seller and dealer in this line. In this book Mr Nasirdaftari has told us in a most lucid and sincere fashion all the details of his own life experience relating to this field. No doubt this information recorded here would be of considerable value to the interested individuals and corporations, both in private and public sectors, whether from the points of view of economics, industry, trade, training, education, import, export as well as arts. Having dealt with this we shall afterwards give an exact definition of the second subject of the book, namely poetry and poetic. In covering those literary issues, we shall deal with specific discussions about this collection of poems in comparison to the essential elements required in Persian poetry.
