1 John 1:8 - 2:3. (The Anti-Gospel Version) If we say weve never committed sin in the past, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our specific sins when we become aware of each one, He is faithful and just to forgive us of those occasional specific sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may stay saved by living long stretches of your lives perfectly and precisely compliant with Gods law (-- i.e. without any sin). And if anyone does commit an occasional sin, becomes aware of it, and then repents, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, who will intercede by pushing the reset button. And then we can get back to flawless living in Gods eyes, and thereby maintain our restored saved relationship with God. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world, as long as we all have perfect knowledge of Gods law, perfect understanding of our whole life, perfect application of the 2nd Law of Pardon, perfect timing according to Gods schedule, and perfect application in the relative emphases we give to the weightier and less-weightier aspects of His Holy Law. Now this is how anyone comes to know Him, by keeping His commandments. (AGV)
