1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. ============================ This is so much simpler than we make it. We are wholly forgiven, so that we wont sin. Sin isnt just forbidden, it is harmful. If we sin, we have a powerful advocate - He who died for us. If we sin, He still advocates. In fact, He especially advocates when we need an advocate. Its like this: if someone is beating you up and pummeling you in the face, you need help. Once youre helped, you dont say, why did you stop that guy? You dont go back and try to get him to pummel you some more. But, if you end up in that situation again, that same person will help you. Jesus will entirely keep helping you. You cant even imagine how high His threshold is of giving up on you. It is infinitely high. He will keep loving you. His love includes the desire to lead you away from sins pummeling influence.
