1 Kings 5:3-5 CEV 3 Remember how my father David wanted to build a temple where the Lord his God could be worshiped? But enemies kept attacking my father’s kingdom, and he never had the chance. 4 Now, thanks to the Lord God, there is peace in my kingdom and no trouble or threat of war anywhere. 5 The Lord God promised my father that when his son became king, he would build a temple for worshiping the Lord. So I’ve decided to do that. As I tarried in this scripture - I began to see past a physical building of mortar and bricks. Solomon spoke of how when his father was trying to build, he had to put it on the back burner because of the constant battle he found himself in. Many times as we operate in ministry trying to build that thing that God showed us, we find ourselves sooooo busy putting out fires that we are unable to maintain focus on that which we are building. Solomon speaks of the current peace he is experiencing and how he can now begin building. I was thinking on how the Lord has given us perfect peace while our minds are stayed on Him...though wars are breaking out all around us, and tragedies are YET happening, and problems still need to be addressed, our thoughts are not focused on the stuff that is going on, but instead we are zoned in on the love of God. And therefore since we are at peace WHILE STILL PUTTING OUT FIRES our soul is settled enough to hear Gods instruction for building. JoAnn Dye Camella Jones Denise Shelton
