1 May 1914 – Two members of the Salvation Army, man and wife presumably, struck town Saturday armed with a guitar, drum and tambourine and for an hour made life miserable for all who were in hearing distance. The singing couldn’t possibly have been worse. Following a half dozen songs, the woman preached for half an hour, and from the way she screeched and screamed might very properly have been taken for a demented person. Such small bands of the Army may accomplish good, but we doubt it. (Transcription of the Old Higbee News by- Kathy Bowlin)
