1 PETER: Thesis deadlines prevented me from posting the last two days, so I will make it up with three today. First Peter 1:7 says, ...in order that the testing of your faith, which is more precious than gold... I think the common assumption is that faith is more precious than gold. However, the Greek language clearly places the value not so much on the faith, but on the testing of it. What God considers more valuable than anything is the refinement of your trust in Him. You can become the richest person in the world and obtain everything you ever want in this life, but if your trust in God is disproven by the difficulties in your life, you may find only shame when Jesus returns (1:7b).
