1 Peter 4:14-16 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. Suffering for the name of Christ is part of the life of a Christian, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. In Colossians 1:24 Paul says, “I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church”. 2 Corinthians 1:5 says, “For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.” Our Lord God knows our suffering and He is our greatest reward; our assurance and only hope. John 15:20-21 says, “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.”
