1 Peter 4:8 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Just wanted to share what I got out of this today during my time of studying. Tools of study; Strong’s exhaustive concordance; strong’s bible dictionary and the Encarta dictionary. The Love that God is talking about in this scripture is a love that is extended to the utmost limit. We should make sure that our love for one another stands out so that it reaches past just family to neighbors, past neighbors to strangers and past the stranger to our enemies. The quality, excellence, worth, superiority, of our love for one another is what God is looking for. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” Love is willing to forget as well as to forgive! Love does not keep hinting at past failures and past rebellions. Love is willing to bury sins in a nameless grave and not go back to visit it ever. Love will never hint at the old sin, but will rather seek to cover it in the deep warmth of healing and forgetfulness. Our love for one another should keep us so busy unveiling the promises of tomorrow for each other, that we have little time, and an even less desire to bring up the sins of each other’s past.
