1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. Acknowledge those who work hard among us-who actually care enough to encourage us to draw closer to the Savior we profess-how often do we do that? When there is a special occasion? Paul reminds us to do this. Why? Could it be that Paul knows they need encouragement too? There is a spiritual battle going on, and the enemy would love nothing more than to take people out who are spending time pouring into others, encouraging them in their faith, and helping set up circumstances where people can get stronger in their relationships with Christ. So take time to go encourage those who have gone before you to lead you. Maybe its your church staff, maybe its your small group leaders, maybe its your family. Acknowledge them. And if you are a leader to others, make sure you remember why it is you do what you do. And remember to work hard giving it all youve got. And I love the last line of this-telling us to live in peace with one another. Leader or not, no one is above the other. May the peace of Christ cover over each of us in our relationships with one another. May the leader not think they are better than those they lead, and may those being led not get bitter feelings to those trying to help spur them on in the faith they profess.
