1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, - TopicsExpress

1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. We dont have to agree with everyone we pray for, nor approve of the things they do. It may well be that the ones who most need our prayers are those who are most spiteful and hurtful to us. We may have very strong feelings about our leaders, too, and be convinced that they are leading us down the road to ruin. Nonetheless, I see no exceptions in this passage. I know there are cases when we feel that further prayer for someone is useless, and that they will never change. If we do have a sense in our spirits not to pray for someone, it would only be because they have committed a sin leading to death, (1 John 5:16), which to me would be blaspheming the Holy Spirit). I have yet to have that kind of stop in my spirit, though I have felt the urge not to pray fro someones healing when their time had come to leave this world. The point is this: We should never limit our prayers, or our forgiveness, to those we think deserve them.
