1 Timothy 2 8 I desire therefore the the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. Romans 12 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do jot he conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. > Insight< Todays reading draw from Pauls letter to the young pastor Timothy and from his letter to the growing church in Rome. First Timothy 2 carries Pauls theme of keeping the churchs mission doctrinally sound. This section of Scripture admonishes believers to pray for secular authority(2:1-7) and to conduct lives of holiness and unity(vv.8-10). Romans 12 begins with an exhortation to pursue a consecrated life that stands in contrast to conformity to the world(vv.1-2). The apostle then turns his attention to the theme of the church as a body with its members having different gifts(vv.3-21). Both passages show how the supplication of correct doctrine will result in holy living.
