Matt. 23:26 Clothing Considerations// Getting dressed each morning is something that many of us do with little or no thought.However, it s good for us to consider our motives for dressing the way we do . The clothing we wear is an indicator of our heart condition. Pride will make us dress in a way that draws attention to ourselves. Humility is not concerned about what man thinks but what God thinks. Recently l had the opportunity to visit with a UPS driver . I asked him about the dress code of his company. I was impressed with how his superiors saw success and uniformity going hand in hand. What about our Homes and Churches ? If secular organizations see value in uniformity, how much more should those who profess to serve God ? The people of God will be careful to dress in a way that honors God. While undress and a casual spirit increase in our society, God s people will continue to be known for their modesty and carefulness in dress. Mark 5 tells of the man with a "legion" of unclean spirits One of the first things he did after Jesus delivered him was to clothe himself (verse 15 ). In the samr way, when Jesus delivers us from sin.we should want to be dressed modestly. In today s Bible reading we find some directives on how women should dress. The same principals apply to men also. God has given authority to The Church to make Applications of Blibical commands in the area of dress. Different Churches may arrive at different applications.However, one mark of a True Church is that the dress of its members is conformed not to the world but rather to, the teachings of The New Testament. Yea, all of you be subject, one to another , and be clothed with humility. 1Peter 5:5 Study ) 2 Chronicles 32-33, Isaiah 57, Acts 5
