Update: Fort Carson helicopters to support Black Forest Fire FORT CARSON, Colo. – In response to a request from civil authorities, Fort Carson is preparing two helicopters in support of the DOD’s immediate response authority and a memorandum of agreement between Fort Carson and El Paso County. The Fort Carson Fire Department and the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade are preparing to support airdrop firefighting efforts north east of Colorado Springs in the Black Forest community. Fort Carson remains prepared to assist firefighting efforts and provide support to the Colorado Springs community to the fullest extent possible.
