1. We have a very territorial red-tailed hawk. I saw him chase off a bald eagle this morning...its an awesome sight to see a hawk and eagle tangled up in mid flight. 2. Addies recent discovery of the ability to crawl has also coincided with a dramatic decrease in the necessity to vacuum under and around the dining room table. Coincidence? 3. Dixon has more breakdowns over clothing choices in an average day than most teenage girls in a month. HES A 4 YEAR OLD BOY!!! Its a nightmare trying to get him to pick a pair of shoes just so we can leave the leave the house. 4. At age 6, Jakes memory and ability to reason continue to amaze me. We planted a small orchard a couple of weeks ago, and Jake feels some responsibility to check on our trees regularly. DOH!!! I never even considered that. 5. In kindergarten, they worked on phonetics. But in first grade, Jacob is now working on spelling words further fueling my irritation of the English language. In kindergarten, they are taught the long and short sounds of the letters like O and U. Do you remember being taught that in kindergarten? Pretty simple, right? But in first grade, it just gets downright convoluted. Here are tu quick examples…to and too. Oh yeah, and I really get the cross eyed look when we have to spell the number 2. And before we are thru, let me remind you that its not just as simple as teaching him that ew should sound like u...lest we forget about 7th grade when we learn how to sew. 6. Just so I dont continually sound like a crazy old coot, let me say that Im blessed more than any man deserves...surrounded by friends and family that love me and accept the person that I am...with a wife and beautiful children that make my heart full...and more stuff than I could have ever dreamed of even 10 years ago (just ask those that helped us move last month ;)) I truly could not ask or wish for more
