1 arrested shoplifting-1 flees scene but arrested nearby: Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott arrested two individuals, one at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County, and another subject at a nearby motel on Tuesday night December 9, 2014 at approximately 8:49 PM. The arrests were the result of an investigation conducted by Deputy Parrott after Walmarts loss prevention team allegedly observed a male and a female subject concealing items in their shopping buggy in the store and attempting to leave without paying for the items. Deputy Parrott learned that when Walmart attempted to detain the two subjects, the male subject fled the scene. Deputy Parrott arrested a female subject at Walmart identifying her as Allyson Blanken age 18 of Brunswick, Maryland charging her with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and wanton endangerment – second-degree. This subject had her four-month-old son with her in the buggy when she was allegedly concealing items. Deputy Parrott learned that the male subject that fled the scene was allegedly Allyson Blankens boyfriend and that he had fled the scene in a vehicle. Deputy Parrott located the suspect vehicle parked at a motel parking lot nearby and learned that the subject had allegedly rented a room there. Deputy Parrott located the subject in a room, taking him into custody and identifying him as Robert Ahalt age 20 of Thurmont, Maryland charging him with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and wanton endangerment – second-degree. Both subjects were lodged in the Laurel County detention Center. Photos attached are courtesy of the Laurel County detention Center.
