$1 billion road project for Sarawak. The Funds for the road projects has been approved but the instruction to carry it out has not. What is Putra Jaya waiting for, tunggu election kah? The road from Kanowit to Kapit costing $400m has been announced so many times but nothing has been done about it. The Batang Samarahan Bridge, Matang to Batu Kawa and Mile 10 of Kuching Serian Road. The important thing here is it has not been decided whether it is going to be open tender or negotiated. In my opinion it should be an open tender but limited to Sarawak companies only. A condition should be included where at least 40% of the work or specify the work that must be sub contracted out to smaller local companies. Otherwise, only politician link company will benefit. In my opinion, more small contractors must benefit from the project. Also specify that only certain job can be given out to foreign workers. We must work to protect our people.
