1 in 5 places I look into for rentals are fraudulent. Had two last week. There are various signs. Priced way too low. No yard sign corresponding to the ad. Out of town phone number. The list goes on. I am livid that this is an epidemic, and that people are likely falling for it. I am livid that entities like Trulia and Zillow seem to have no decent fraud departments weeding these out. Im livid that the government has no clear and effective place to which to report this shit and that a tax force is not kicking in the door and hauling off some scammers to prison every day. One of the traits thats common with these is an email reply with some massive bullshit story about how you need to send money and get the key to the place, sight unseen.
