1 job vacancy at Imbaraga Asbl (Deadline 30th July ) IMBARAGA is a National Non-Governmental Organization and its mission is to promote and safeguard the social, economic and political interests of its farmer members. It was created in March, 1992 to provide representation and undertake lobby and advocacy activities on behalf of its members. IMBARAGA Organization is looking for suitable candidates for the position of POLICY AND ADVOCACY OFFICER Job Purpose : The Policy and advocacy Officer will have the responsibility to establish the policy and advocacy unit within IMBARAGA and to guide and coordinate effective engagement of Imbaraga members around key public policies and policy processes. She/he will elaborate and implement a clear strategy and action plan within IMBARAGA. Specific Tasks : Under the supervision of the Secretary General, the Policy and advocacy Officer will undertake the following specific tasks : • Focal point within IMBARAGA on public policy affairs ; • Elaborate a clear strategy and work plan for support to IMBARAGA members on policy engagement ; • Assist Imbaraga members to identify key policy priorities within their respective domains and to self-mobilize to generate common engagement positions on them ; • In consultation with members and other key stakeholders, establish and maintain an updated data and information base on key public policies and CS organizations working on specific policies ; • Assist the Secretary General on key developments within the Rwandan policy context and ensure that Imbaraga members are fully updated on and engaged with them ; • Assist Imbaraga board and its thematic commissions, and the wider CS and public to familiarize with the contents of key government policies (old, new, upcoming) by offering both snapshot and in-depth analytic guides as may be needed ; • Assist Imbaraga members activities aimed at mobilizing and galvanizing engagement around key public policies ; • Report monthly to the Secretary General in key public policy events ; • Perform other tasks as shall be advised by the Secretary General. Qualifications : • Master degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Social Sciences, or other relevant degree, with at least 5 years progressive experience in public policy engagement ; or a Bachelor Degree in any of the above or other relevant areas with at least 10 years experience ; • Between 25 and 45 years old ; • Understanding of the Rwandan public policy context ; • Experience and understanding of the agriculture and farming sectors in Rwanda ; • Experience and knowledge of civil society sector in Rwanda ; • Experience and knowledge of regional and international policy issues relevant to agriculture ; • Fluency in English, French and Kinyarwanda ; • Good communicator and in writer ; • Strategic thinker, a good leader, organizer and manager ; • Innovative, self-driven and team player ; • Open, with experience of working in multicultural contexts ; • Strong understanding of gender equality and of Human Rights-based principles and approaches ; • Knowledge of results-based management ; • Computer literate Expression of interest and application : All interested candidates are invited to submit their application package consisting of a recent CV, cover letter, academic qualifications and salary expectations to the IMBARAGA Office located in KICUKIRO District, KANOMBE Sector ; RUBIRIZI Cell.
