1 out of every 100 is imprisoned in this country. More people incarcerated than China, making USA #1 in total number of prisoners. Something that is so bad, Elmo and Big Bird has discussions on the topic. I feel like something is amiss in a country that has a slogan of Land of the free, home of the brave. I understand that many people dont care about this crisis because they have not played prison roulette, but when taxpayers pay well over $40,000 per person to reside in club fed, and it is rising, we have to come together to fix a broken system. Henry Silverglate argues that every American, because of the copious amounts of laws, breaks three felonies everyday and they are none the wiser. In America alone, there are over 80,000 individual governments; think about the amount of laws contained in each, and it is astronomical.
