10:00 PM Update from Jeff: High impact ice storm likely. Radar continues to show extensive rapid development of moderate to at times heavy freezing rain and sleet from northern Harris County westward to west of San Antonio. With surface temperatures already at or below freezing across areas along and north of I-10 freezing rain and ice accumulation is likely. Given increased duration of the event in combination with heavier precipitation rates requires the adjusting of ice amounts into the .10-.25 inch range along and north of I-10 with isolated amounts possibly as high as .30 of an inch. Continue to be worried about the incoming convective cells and their ability to put down some really good freezing rain rates. This will cause significant travel impacts across all the warning area starting within the next few hours and lasting well into midday Tuesday. Travel by Tuesday morning will be extremely hazardous with ice likely on all bridges and overpasses and even some surface streets. Ice amounts may be great enough in isolated areas to result in some loss of tree limbs and power lines leading to isolated power outages.
