10/01/14 - Ive been working too much lately, at least thats what Holt says. Working, coming home, helping out with dinner and cleanup, Grants homework, etc. So, Holt asked me to take him to clinic today. Holt loves his momma, but he apparently needed some extra daddy time. Holt and I got to clinic, blood draw, and then had to wait for the results. An hour or so later, after playing with Cragger the crocodile, spinning Holt around on the chair until hes dizzy, and lots of I Spy, we finally got the results - ANC was 520, so he was deaccessed and gets one more week off of meds. And let me just say that spying something outside of the room is not fair when youre the only one that can see through the doorway. How am I supposed to see the blue blood pressure machine around the corner? Holt is starting a new chemo next week, assuming he starts his next round. The new chemo is a relative of 6MP, and the CVS across the street from TCH normally carries it, so after we were discharged, we went to pick the prescription up. The scrip was written two weeks ago, but TCH let them know it might be a while until it was needed. CVS re-shelved it, as we hadnt picked it up, and so we had some time to wait for them to refill it. What to do? While spending a lot of time at TCH and Clinic, Holt hasnt had much of an opportunity to walk around the area by the hospital. So, after CVS, we went to McDonalds in St Lukes, and Holt got to fill his tummy with eggs and sausage. The lady next to us really got a kick out of Holt telling me McDs eggs were soooo much better than mine. My eggs cant be that bad....ummm, He was really hungry, as he couldnt eat breakfast in case he was to have a procedure today....yeah, thats it...either that, or Im really going to have to kick it up a notch in the kitchen. Holts up to 22.5 kg, so my cooking cant be that bad. We also spent a bit of time looking at the model train display in TCH near McDs. Grant has spent a lot of time over there, but I think this was the first time Holt got to see it. Probably not, but thats what he said. The trains, playground, mountains, carnival, city, and the T-Rex that tore a tree out of the ground near all the other dinosaurs was pretty cool. We also had fun finding the Smurfs and the superheroes in the display. After clinic and CVS, we did some shopping, had lunch, and came home to play. Holt has really been into The Hobbit lately, and making castles and wargs and Orc armies out of Grants Legos has been a lot of fun. Grant has been a little possessive though - using the Lego Movie characters as dwarves or orcs was not acceptable. So, as an early birthday present, we got a Hobbit Lego set for Holt today. That was a hit, and now Holt wants to make a big sign that informs Grant he cant touch. Oh that Brotherly love. Momma enjoyed her day off, and if you cant tell, I really enjoyed my day with Holt. Maybe I have been working too much lately.... Tomorrow, Grant has a 1/2 day at school so the plan is to visit Space City Ice Station for public skating when school gets out. The ice rink will be closing its door next Friday the 10th :(
