10/2/2014. UPDATE ON UTAH CIVIL RIGHTS ACTION AGAINST UTAH ATTORNEYS GENERAL. I can now update you on the civil rights lawsuit brought against the current Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes (for prospective relief), and the past two Utah Attorneys General John Swallow and Mark Shurtleff. Here are their pics. For Mr. Swallow and Mr. Shurtleff, I believe these are their mug shots from their recent bookings through the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple criminal counts, not believed to be related to our case. As to the federal civil rights lawsuit, Magistrate Judge Furse recently granted our various motions, and denied their motion to dismiss the lawsuit. One of our motions was to amend our complaint. That being granted, we have filed the First Amended Complaint this morning, and Mr. Shurtleff and Mr. Swallow were both served at their homes this evening by serving members of their family, when told they were not at home. Special thanks to my good friend, ex-Marine and neighbor Mike Pepper who accomplished service this evening. He got er done. This lawsuit is going to move forward again, though we will likely have to defeat another round of motions to dismiss by Swallow and Shurtleff. That is fine. Were not going away. BTW, with the First Amended Complaint, weve gone from 13 birth fathers, to 32. We will keep you posted on the progress that we are making, with the understanding that there is only so much we can say about current ongoing litigation.
