10/22/2012: Earlsboro, Oklahoma: Please share to spread word about the disappearance of Melody Ann Jones (left) who was 19-years-old when she vanished on 4/4/1983 from Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Prior to Melodys disappearance she spent the day fishing with her family. Afterwards, her brother gave her a ride home, dropping her off at the rural Earlsboro home she shared with her husband, Paul Richard Jones (right) who was 20 at the time. Her brother told police he saw the door ajar as she went in and noticed the lights were on inside. Sometime that night, Melodys husband, 20-year-old Paul Jones was murdered inside the home and Melody vanished. On the morning of May 5, 1983, when Melody didnt show up for work at the Dairy Queen in Seminole, her mother went to Melodys home and discovered her son-in-laws body. Melody wasnt there, but all her personal belongings, including her purse and eyeglasses, were found inside and the couples car was parked in the driveway. There were no signs that a domestic dispute occurred and Investigators said they believe evidence points to Melody being the victim of abduction. Deputies searched the area around the home on foot and horseback, covering 160 acres, while a search by helicopter covered a 6-square-mile area, finding no sign of Melody or any clues. At the time of her disappearance Melody was 411 and 135-140 pounds. Her hair was light brown and curly. Her eyes are hazel. If you have any information concerning this case, please contact Pottawatomie County Sheriffs Office Chief Deputy Patten at 405-275-2526. He said he dropped her off after a fishing trip and remembered a man standing at the doorway when Melody got home that night. I thought it was her husband, which it could have been, open the door, Garton said. It was dark, and she got out and went on in. What happened after the young woman went inside is still a mystery. The next morning, Melody Jones mom found Paul Jones stabbed to death in the couples home, but no sign of his wife. Jessica Brown of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said there was little evidence left behind. Her glasses are still there in the bedroom, Brown said. The familys cars were outside. OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations) said they have no reason to believe that Melody Jones was involved in the killing of her husband.
